About Humidwise

Why I built it

I’m Julien Fourel, and I build comparison sites from public data: I read what the agencies and the makers publish, and I check it.

When I looked into dehumidifiers, the advice didn’t match the data. The EPA’s ENERGY STAR® list includes 482 certified models sold in the U.S. (list of Oct 15, 2026), under 130 brands but filed by only 74 companies. The most complete guide I found had pages for 82 models (read on Oct 4, 2026). About nine of them were still on the EPA list. None of the guides I read said what a unit costs to run where you live. Yet home electricity costs 3.8 times more in Hawaii than in Louisiana (EIA, July 2026).

So I built the site I was looking for. It lists every certified model, the size the EPA’s own table suggests, and the yearly cost in your state. Each figure comes with its source and its date.

What Humidwise does

Humidwise helps you pick a dehumidifier in three steps. First the size your space needs, then the models certified at that size, then what each one costs to run where you live.

• 482 certified models, from the EPA list of Oct 15, 2026
• 51 electricity prices, one for each state and DC
• 130 brands, filed by 74 companies

How it works

Every figure comes from a public source. Capacity and energy use come from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, home electricity prices from the Energy Information Administration. Recalls come from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (18 dehumidifier recalls on file). When a maker doesn’t publish a figure, the page says “Not published”.

We don’t test dehumidifiers, and no brand pays for a place. Some store links earn us a commission: How we make money explains what they never change. How we compare gives the rules behind every list.
