Questions

Recall questions

Each answer comes from the CPSC notices or the EPA list, with its date.

What should I do if my dehumidifier is recalled?

Every notice in this list says to stop using the unit, and most say to unplug it too. Then contact the company the notice names: the remedy is a refund, a replacement, a repair, or a gift card, depending on the recall. For one maker that went out of business, no remedy is left.

Are today’s certified models recalled?

None of these recalls names a model number on today’s EPA list (482 models). The recalls cover older units, from 2001 to 2023.

Why does one brand show up in several recalls?

Most recalls are announced by the company that made the units, and name the brands they were sold under. A few are announced by the store that sold them, Sears or Home Depot in this list. The summaries of these 18 notices list 31 brand names. Kenmore units, for example, appear in recalls filed by Gree, Midea, LG, and Whirlpool.
