How we pick. Certified portable models rated 25–30 pints a day. That’s the top of the range ENERGY STAR suggests for a slightly damp room. Each one is sold by a store we link to. One pick per need: EPA Most Efficient, no app, and a Wi-Fi app. Within each need, the lowest yearly energy use wins, then the higher efficiency. Noise isn’t in the EPA list, so it isn’t part of the rule. No 25–30 pint model with a Wi-Fi app is sold by a store we link to yet. So that pick is missing. Stores never pay for a place.

What is the quietest dehumidifier?
No public source answers that. The EPA list has no noise field for any of its 482 models, and we don’t run sound checks of our own.
If the maker publishes a figure, the seller can pass it on.

Only when they were taken the same way. Look at the unit (dB(A), weighted for the human ear), the distance from the machine, and the fan speed.
A figure at 1 meter and one at 5 feet can’t be compared, and neither can a low-fan figure against a high-fan one.
Can I make it run less?
Yes, by giving it less to do. Keep the room’s doors and windows shut while it runs, as ENERGY STAR advises. Then cut moisture at the source, with vent fans in the bathroom and kitchen and a dryer vented outdoors.
The built-in humidistat then stops the unit sooner, since the room reaches your setting faster.
