How we pick. Certified portable models rated 45–50 pints a day, the units sold as 50 pints and the few just under. Each one is sold by a store we link to. One pick per need: no app, a Wi-Fi app, and sold by the brand. Within each need, the lowest yearly energy use wins, then the higher efficiency. Stores never pay for a place.

What people ask before buying
Who needs a 50-pint dehumidifier?
By the ENERGY STAR table, 50 pints a day fits a wet space under 2,000 sq ft. Over 2,000 sq ft, it fits a damp, very damp, or wet space.
For a slightly damp room under 2,000 sq ft, the table stops at 30 pints. Fifty is more than that room needs.
ENERGY STAR sizing guidance, read Oct 5, 2026How much does a 50-pint dehumidifier cost to run?
The 156 certified models rated 45–50 pints use between 438 and 530 kWh a year, 520 at the median. That is about $66 a year in Louisiana and $250 in Hawaii, at July 2026 home prices.
EPA list, Oct 15, 2026 · EIA, July 2026Is there a bigger portable than 50 pints?
No certified portable is rated above 50 pints a day. Bigger units are whole-house models, installed with ducts: 21 are certified, from 52 to 172 pints a day. The 70-pint guide explains where the old 70-pint units went.
EPA list, Oct 15, 2026Why do older units list more pints?
Since 2019, the Department of Energy rates dehumidifiers at 65°F instead of 80°F. In cooler air they pull out less water, so the same machine gets a smaller number. The EPA’s own example: a unit sold as 70 pints under the old test rates about 40–45 pints today.
