Our read

Who it suits

On the ENERGY STAR table, the Sentinel Pro35X suits a damp space under 2,000 sq ft. For a very damp or wet one, the table asks for more. It’s one of the cheaper models of its size to run.

Our arithmetic

Cost

$0.97

in the United States

A day of nonstop drying means 21.27 pints of water, about 2.7 gallons, for some 5.3 kWh. At the average home electricity price in the United States, the Sentinel Pro35X costs $0.97 to run that day.

The EPA’s yearly estimate, 242 kWh, adds up to about 46 days like that. Each extra day at full output costs another $0.97.

Those 21.27 pints come from a DOE test at 65°F and 60% humidity. Cooler air at that humidity gives up less water, so expect fewer pints in a cold basement.

Every day at full output leaves 2.7 gallons to get rid of. Check how the Sentinel Pro35X drains, since our sources don’t say.
